El Santuario Nacional de Huayllay es un gran bosque geológico con gigantescas piedras de variadas y caprichosas formas escultóricas muy atractivas; labradas por la erosión de la acción del viento, el agua y el desplazamiento de los glaciares.
El bosque de piedras de Huayllay se encuentra en los andes centrales del Perú, sobre la gran meseta de Bombón, su altitud varía entre los 4,100 y 4,600 metros sobre el nivel del mar y tiene una extensión de 6,815 hectáreas, ubicado en el departamento de Pasco.

Además de ofrecer un fantástico espectáculo gracias a la diversidad de figuras pétreas, el Santuario es un refugio ecológico y cultural. Entre la flora podemos encontrar pastos, queñoales, huamanpintas, putagas, ichus y totoras. Entre su fauna encontraremos, vicuñas, vizcachas, gatos monteses, zorrillos, gavilanes, perdices, gallaretas y patos silvestres. Además existen pinturas rupestres encontradas en la zona, siendo las más importantes, Vicuñapintasha y Cuchipinta.
El bosque alberga muchas lagunas y las aguas termales de La Calera muy conocida por sus propiedades curativas.
Huayllay es lugar propicio para hacer campamentos y deportes de aventura. Se recomienda llevar mucho abrigo para la noche, bloqueador y lentes de sol para el día.
Para llegar al bosque de piedras de Huayllay desde Lima hay diferentes rutas. La primera opción es a través de la sierra limeña pasando por Canta y La Viuda, la segunda opción por la Panamericana Norte hasta Huaral y luego seguir el valle del río Chancay; la tercera opción es por la Carretera Central hasta Cerro de Pasco. La mejor época para visitar el Santuario es de mayo a octubre que es temporada seca.
